Status Update - Site Move & Domain Transfer

What happens when you transfer your domain to a new registrar at the same time that you’re moving to a new web host? Nothing, which is the problem.
I was hoping this would all be wrapped up by now, but it isn’t. I decided to switch from registering this domain from GoDaddy to NameCheap, mainly because it will save me over $40 per year. At the same time, I decided to switch web hosts to a provider that offers more of the features I need for this and the other sites I run.
What I’ve found is that trying to do both at the same time is frustrating. ![]()
Don’t get me wrong, I never intended to do both simultaneously, it’s just the way the timing worked out. The domain is up in less than a month so I either had to transfer it now, or pay GoDaddy for another year. Also this site is currently running on a Windows 2003 server, but I need to start using some WordPress plug-ins that only work on a Linux server, so I basically have to either switch web hosts or not use the plug-ins. I chose to switch hosts. Such is life.
So I haven’t been updating this site because I had already published everything over to the new web host. I just didn’t count on GoDaddy denying my transfer. Smells fishy to me, but it’s probably nothing more than normal hoops one has to jump through for these things.
Therefore I decided to start publishing to the blog again, and when the transfer is completed, then I’ll put new posts on standby until I can change the name servers and get the DNS moved.
Stay tuned because I plan to update the Affiliate Marketing Niche Blog Series soon.
